The problem was, I say, is that it was an “armed camp”

The Trump Yemen strike was done w/o sufficient intelligence, says unidentified military officials in paragraph 5.

pp 6 – “As a result, three officials said, the attacking SEAL team found itself dropping onto a reinforced al Qaeda base defended by landmines, snipers, and a larger than expected contingent of heavily armed Islamist extremists.”

You get some impression the planners here didn’t have a proper mind’s eye notion of an ‘armed camp’. They stop thinking satellite photography was useful or something?

Anyway… it’s not the office of the POTUS that’s evaluating and strategizing against these targets. It’s the military.

If the military thinks they can raid armed camps and suffer no casualties and inflict no collateral damage, they’re wrong.

If they’re telling that to the President, they are wrong and / or lying.

We got a different kind of President than the last one. This one has no doubt less inherent skepticism of the military brass….. If this wasn’t the predicted result, he or his guys need to learn from this.

Sure, the military is doing the evaluation, but the POTUS is the one making the decision. Sounds like the subtext here is that the military feels that the POTUS’s risk reward calculus w/r/t military lives is a bit cavalier.

There seem to be quite a few people who work closely with the POTUS who are less than impressed with him. The military are not the only ones who are leaking like a sieve….. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/02/02/the-leaks-coming-out-of-the-trump-white-house-right-now-are-totally-bananas/?utm_term=.e774c9476287
