I’m not all spun up like some of my brethren. The EOs are basically pathetic. The Pres is telling his constituency he’s doing something. But he’s not, he doesn’t have these powers, and the DOJ doesn’t either. This is accurate:
Ya know, I would like the Democrat party to see the error of its ways and drop the gun control plank. I think that’s sensible, but it’s probably an unreasonable expectation. And thus for me to sorta concern troll about how much damage that gun control plank does to the (D) party is kinda absurd…. Because I’m not a (D), not on this or a few other things.
But I’m really bewildered at how much damage they choose to do the party’s electoral prospects by maintaining / feeding the gun control plank. And it’s a reasonable bewilderment.
This thing here… the GC people may feel obliged to flail and grasp out for this because its superficially reachable and can be done for sake of turning the ratchet in the direction of superficial progress. But its not. Stupid, obtuse policy damages the effort.
And if it provokes more people to join the NRA — and sets up a series of confrontations in the courts that end up further strengthening the rights of gun owners — it just might end up making things marginally worse.
