But seriously, I like the way Chait evaluates arrangements by preferability and potentiality say. I imagine there’s a name for that sort of exercise, and I wish I knew what it was.

    Yeah, i thought that it was a particularly insightful piece by Chait. The final part, where he distinguishes between Congressional Dems/GOP and White House Dems/GOP and looks at the various ways divided government might work for business is the key aspect. He took a complicated argument and broke it down into its various pieces and then built it back up and was able to distinguish the nuances that way. He “unpacked” it.
